OPPORTUNITY FOR AUSTRALIAN PLUS SIZE DANCERS

Sydney dance theatre company Force Majeure plans to investigate the personal stories and experiences of individuals who live in bigger bodies. Artistic Director Kate Champion will work in collaboration with Artistic Associate Kelli Jean Drinkwater (artist, filmmaker, fat activist) to create an intriguing, powerful and at times beautiful dance theatre work for the fat body.

CALLOUT FOR PERFORMERS

Force Majeure is inviting self-identified people of size (bigger bodied/large/fat) to participate in the audition process for a groundbreaking dance theatre exploration of what it means to be fat.

This project provides a unique opportunity for larger bodied people to engage with their self-expression through tailor made workshops and movement labs with the aim to produce a high-end, innovative dance theatre piece that will premiere in 2015.

This work is a rare opportunity for people of size to showcase their skills and innate ability to be great movers and dancers (trained or untrained). Performers will work within a supportive environment where they will be encouraged to take risks exploring their physicality.

Brisbane’s first Chunky Dunk!
February 3 2012 at 2pm.

Join the BNE Chunky Dunk fb group to find out more info (like the location, which we are not publicising before the date to ensure a safer environment). The location is inner city east side and accessible by bus.

The pool location is fairly accessible by mobility devices but does not have a ramp into the pool itself, rather your traditional ladder situation.

We have booked a separate lane for our chunky dunkin’ times and it will cost $8 per person. The pool is open til 5pm so we’ve got lots of time!

This event is primarily for fat people but friends and family are also totally welcome. Come make friends and cool off with us!

(The phrase “chunky dunk” was originally used by fat activists in Portland, if I recall correctly!)
